Matt Monarch and Angela Stokes-Monarch are popular raw food authors and founders of the online store The Raw Food World, as well as a YouTube channel and show of the same name. They specialize in the promotion of a wide range of raw food products, DVDs and books, accessories and kitchen appliances. Both Matt and Angela have written books in which they draw on their personal struggles to help other aspiring raw foodists succeed on their journeys. With the help of a balanced raw lifestyle, Angela managed to recover from morbid obesity, dropping more than 160 lbs of excess weight. Matt has been eating exclusively raw food for almost fifteen years.
The Monarchs have recently become parents, opting for an unassisted childbirth. Their baby daughter, Oria Berry, was born at home, after just 1 hour and 17 minutes of labor, without any intervention from a doctor, midwife or doula. The Monarchs also chose to have a lotus birth with Oria Berry, meaning that the umbilical cord was not clamped or severed after birth, but allowed to detach naturally from the baby, within four days of her birth.
The Monarchs have cited Laura Shanley’s book “Unassisted Childbirth” as the main inspiration for choosing this birth method. The Monarchs also choose to use the toilet training practice known as “elimination communication” with their baby, which means relying on timing, intuition and cues from the baby to take them to the toilet, rather than leaving the baby to go in diapers or linens that will then be pressed against their body.
The Monarchs live in Vilcabamba, Ecuador, on a 40+ acre ranch with organic gardens/orchards, nine horses, two dogs, kittens and a blossoming human population of conscious parents and their children.

Dr. Sarah J Buckley is not only a trained General Practitioner/Family Physician but she is also qualified in GP-obstetrics and family planning. She has four children, all of whom she gave birth to at home. She presently shares her time between parenting and her work writing on parenting, pregnancy and childbirth.
Buckley analyses many current practices in relation to parenting, pregnancy and childbirth from the broadest possible standpoints. This includes cross cultural, anthropological, personal, scientific and psychological perspectives. She highly suggests that women pay attention to their own bodies, intuitions and the right to be the true experts when it comes to parenting and childbirth.
Buckley’s books “Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering: A Doctor’s Guide to Natural Childbirth and Gentle Early Parenting Choices”, which is an international best seller, builds on her highly praised first book , which was published in Australia, named “Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering: The Wisdom and Science of Gentle Choice in Pregnancy, Birth and Parenting.”
Ingrid Bauer is an author who speaks and writes often on the subject of natural living, health and parenting. Her publications have been seen in magazines and other literary pieces in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia. She currently resides with her significant other, children and parents in British Columbia, Canada.
Her book “Diaper Free: The Gentle Wisdom of Natural Infant Hygiene” highlights the idea that infants are much more capable of learning at an early age to live without diapers, help prevent diaper rash and also reduce the amount of diapers parents buy. One of the key points in the book is that mothers, if diligent in paying attention to the schedule of their baby’s need to use the bathroom will help the baby associate the urge to eliminate with being placed gently and securely over a small receptacle, to release.
This helps the baby to learn at a much earlier age how to signal their caretakers that he/she is ready to use the bathroom. While this practice is not widespread in “Western” society as of yet, the book has helped many parents realize that early potty training is possible with the advice in this book.

Her 2006 DVD “Birth As We Know It” documents these experiences, featuring 11 natural births. The midwife community in Vladimirova’s native Russia called the film “the most profound and comprehensive guide to conscious birth in the world”.
Vladmirova’s talents were not only limited to the above mentioned, she was also simultaneously working on facilitating business seminars known as “games.” This was very effective in allowing a series of economic changes to Russia. In addition, she was associated with “Citizen Diplomacy” which is an underground organization that was designed to help end the cold war. Laura Shanley is one of the pioneers of the UC (Unassisted Childbirth) movement, an extension of what was already known as the natural childbirth movement. This movement is based on the understanding that women can give birth quite easily with no assistance from medical professionals or outsiders. The other people who were party to beginning this movement were Robert A. Bradley, Fernand Lamaze and Grantly Dick-Read. Other people of influence in the UC movement were Jeannine Parvarti Baker and Marilyn A. Moran.
Shanley, who gave birth to five of her own children using the unassisted childbirth method (of which four survived, after one was born too early and had complications), authored a book called “Unassisted Childbirth” in 1993, which lead to more widespread popularity of the practice. She is said to have received her inspiration for her book from the writings of Dick-Read.
April Renee has a long history of advocating against child vaccination and the injuries which can result. This stemmed from her own life-changing experience in which she lost her four year old daughter Casi, who suffered from Autism. She is currently the Keynote Speaker for the Vaccine Information Coalition, as well as the former President of TAAP, which stands for The Autism Autoimmunity Project.
April has made it clear that she will continue to work toward doing whatever is necessary in order to protect those children who have been affected by autism as a result of vaccination, and of course for those children yet to come. April has published articles in several health and chiropractic magazines and has been interviewed on a number of radio talk shows, such as “Radio Liberty,” “The Power Hour,” “We the People” and “Liberty Works Radio.”

Michael Mendizza is the founder of a non-profit learning design center called “Touch the Future” and he is also a documentary filmmaker. Michael, working with Joseph Chilton Pearce, created a learning and performance model which optimizes adult/child relationships. This optimum learning relationship is often called “The Zone” by athletes, “Flow” by researchers, and “Play” by children.
The concept of optimum learning relationships focuses on replacing negative consequences and reward systems with creative intelligence and insight. The approach is that of a creative, spontaneous dynamic between child and adult. In this way development and learning are equally shared, allowing for higher levels of sensitivity in both adults and children.
Touch the Future is in essence creating projects that help to cultivate the optimum learning relationship between children and adults. These projects include “United We Play”, primarily focusing on amateur athletes, “Nurturing the Early Child, Family and Caregiver,” which targets communities that cater to children aged 0 to 5 and “Science Story and Creativity” which is a PBS project exploring the development of creative and critical skills of the future work force.

Bregje Hamelynck is the mother of three small children, Erik, Joris and Nynke. She has worked in the area of sustainable development in many capacities.
After the birth of her three children and 15 years of working in the sustainable energy and environmental field, she decided that she would much rather aim her own energy toward the process of coaching pregnant women and guiding them through the pregnancy experience.
Bregje’s primary focus is to help women understand what babies are trying to communicate to their mothers before the language acquisition period, using the concept of Dunstan Baby Language. This concept holds that babies across all cultures use basic sound reflexes to talk to their parents.
Life itself became a much more passionate area of study for Hamelynck since turning her attention to child development and she is now trained in the area of the impact of early childhood and the effects it could have on the child’s life into adulthood. She now assists pregnant women during this vital period of time in their lives.
Marilyn Milos is the founder and director of the National Organization of Circumcision Information Resource Centers (NOCIRC), coordinator of the International Symposia on Circumcision, Sexual Mutilations and Genital Integrity, and a self proclaimed “intactivist”.
